Welcome and thank you for visiting Public School Swagger! I am a Hispanic American with Cuban and Puerto Rican heritage. I am extremely proud of everything my parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents have sacrificed to afford me the opportunity to tell you my story. I was a special education / general education teacher for 5 years and have been a school psychologist for the last 13 years with the public school system. I have been blessed to work with wonderful parents, other educators, and administrators to provide the most empowering and supportive environment possible for ALL students. Through this amazing journey in education, I was fortunate and gifted to meet and form a life-long friendship with my co-founder Shannon!
My drive to support ALL students has always been due to a desire to ensure every student thrives, grows (academically and socially), and is given the opportunity to show the world their superpowers!
As a proud woman of Hispanic descent, my family has always been by bedrock. My Puerto Rican and Cuban roots are front and center in my life and I feel blessed to pass that heritage and strength on to my daughter and two sons.
Our family's mission to walk by faith with grace transcends our daily routine and sets the foundation for how I as a parent, spouse, and citizen in our community lead my life.
Lastly, I believe that public education is a citizen's right and should be enriched through an inclusive, open, supportive, and quality environment that allows ALL children to feel a sense of community and joy. That is also what I hope Public School Swagger will help provide for your School

Thank you for taking interest in Public School Swagger! I come from a long line of educators where my mom was a teacher, assistant principal, and principal for 40 years. Additionally, both of my aunts were teachers for 40 years. I have been in the educational setting for over 23 years now, with my last 13 years as a school psychologist. I shared a classroom for several years with my co-founder Carla, which was one of life's unexpected gifts. We had so much fun working together to create a supportive and welcoming environment for our kids!
There are a lot of great schools to work for, and I am proud to say that I have a specific passion for working in Title 1 schools. The experience has always been, and continues to be, a rewarding one.
On the personal side, I strive for a deep sense of family connection and family involvement. I think teaching your children about your unique heritage and the experiences of the generations before you is a great way to foster the ever important family bond. To me, that is the most valued thing I can pass on to my son.
When I am not working, I love to get outdoors and get my blood flowing through exercise or through my passion for horses. Animals, especially horses, have so much to offer us in return for our love.
Finally, I believe that a child’s creativity should be nurtured and that a child’s exposure to experiences will set a foundation for acceptance, curiosity, and inclusion. That is also what I hope Public School Swagger will help provide for your School
